about

What is Apple, after all? Apple is about people who think 'outside the box,' people who want to use computers to help them change the world, to help them create things that make a difference, and not just to get a job done. –Steve Jobs

Background

My formal education at the Colorado Institute of Art (later rebranded Art Institute of Colorado) in Denver, Colorado, and Media Lab in Boulder, Colorado, where I majored in photography and interactive computer programming, form the basis for my career. My early career focused on work in a photography lab, a printing prepress shop, and a drum scanning and digital image compositing company. Once Apple’s Mac computer became the industry standard, it continued to revolutionize how photography and interactive media were produced. By the early 1990s, I worked exclusively in studio photography, drum scanning, and digital composition software to create visual content for national magazines, including Star Trek Communicator, Star Wars Insider, Ad Astra, and Final Frontier.

In 1997, I founded Mediawerx to service corporate clients by providing photography and interactive technologies for a variety of applications. Commercial photography has been at the core of my career and basis for an array of storytelling platforms — from interactive visitor displays in museums to complex manuals that allow for user-entered content. More recently, I developed software products to empower U.S. Air Force architects and planners to articulate their own stories depicting base-level facilities standards. To augment that effort, I’ve been to over 40 U.S. Air Force bases globally to capture architectural photography in support of the Air Force Installation Facilities Standards program. Parallel to that effort, I continue to deliver high-quality commercial photography projects specializing in product and industrial areas for print and digital marketing.

Looking Forward

Drone equipped FAA certified Unmanned Aircraft Systems Pilot, I am providing small aircraft photography and mapping services. See drone-captured interactive VR storytelling content in the photography section under the Drone / VR tab.

Other Passions

Over the past decade, I’ve been obsessed with the quality of every detail while renovating a 1909 Victorian home in Manitou Springs, Colorado, that has an interior Craftsman-style design inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. I also enjoy mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and exploring the mountains, canyons, and rivers of the American West.
